Cullerlie
Stone circle
NJ 785 043

Head west from Aberdeen on the A944 and then take the B9119 through carnie. Turn left on the B9125 and the site is signposted. There is a car park and footpath to the circle. This has very easy access and the council have provided a grassy tree lined approach to the stones.

This is an interesting site but the grey gravel spread between the stones doesn’t help with the atmosphere but just keep the weeds down. The circle was originally built on gravel in an area of swamp and is made up of 8 impressive granite stones forming a 10m diameter circle. Inside the circle are eight small kerbed rings which had stones placed over the cremations inside them.
