Mané-er-Hroek
Mound and chamber
Locmariaquer, Morbihan

Drive to the Pointe de Kerpenhir where there is a carpark if you want a pleasant walk along the coast passing the statue and on to a standing stone in the hedgerow to the left of the carpark. The gnarled stone is about 3m (10ft) high.

Follow the road on to the village of Kerpenhir and just beyond look for a small sign on the left where there is just room to park without blocking the drives either side.

A short walk takes you up to the large mound of stones that is hollowed out. Here a series of steps have been built to lead you down to the chamber.

The steps down to the chamber and the cairn

There is no passage it leads into a low and very dark chamber – so take a torch. There is not a lot to see here but the carved stone that was found here is now in a cabinet in the video room of the Grand Brisé site. Also it is famous for its finds. These include 106 axes and one made of jadeite, 49 beads and 9 pendants.
