Boscawen
Un Parking is very difficult along this stretch of the A30 and there doesn’t seem to be any near where the footpath along the lane to the circle is. We found a layby about ½ mile beyond the lane in the Land’s End direction where there is space to get off the road and by chance next to a gate where a path (possibly not a public one) leads right to the circle.
First sight of the circle This is a very secluded and peaceful site. It consists of a leaning central standing stone that is 2.4m (8 ft) long with 19 stones in an ellipse around it. The dimensions of the oval are 25 by 22 metres surrounded by gorse and vegetation. It was restored in 1862 and a stone wall built around it.

The leaning central stone was placed intentionally in this position and has not slipped. Another distinctive feature of this circle is the large quartz stone to the WSW of the circle, the rest are granite.
The quartz stone
The central stone This circle is mentioned in a Medieval Welsh manuscript as one of the three main Gorsedds (cultural meeting places) of the Britons, and the modern Cornish Gorsedd first met here in 1928. There was probably no problem parking then.
