From Stannon walk about 1.25 miles across the moor to the east passing remains of a settlement and numerous cairns and a few burial chambers. One of these chambers with two cists is to the south of the farm road near a standing stone. (The road here that leads to Fernacre I think is private, the walk over the moor is pleasant even if it was raining when we were there.)
The approach to Fernacre
This is a very large stone circle in an attractive setting with Rough Tor behind. It is a flattened circle of about 46 by 43m consisting of over 70 stones of which about 40 still stand.
View towards Rough Tor
The stones are not large but it makes a dramatic scene as you can see it from a long way off as you approach over the moor. This is the largest open circle in Cornwall, only the Stripple Stones henge comes near to it in size.
