Trethevy Quoit
Burial Chamber
SX 259 688

From Minions take the road SW to St Cleer passing a Cornish cross on the left and about 1 mile later turn left to Darite. The site is signed and there is a small parking area.

This quoit, or burial chamber, is known locally as The Giant's House, and is a very impressive site. The capstone is 3.7m (12ft) long and has a natural hole piercing it near it’s highest point. The rectangular chamber is 2 x 1.5m and is made of six uprights about 3m (10 ft) high.

A small rectangle has been cut out of the entrance stone and may have been used to insert bodies. The chamber is surrounded by the remains of a mound.
