Take the B7068 and the site is about 2 miles east of Bankshill. Just after a left turn track to Whitstonehill farm you will see a small patch of trees on the right. There isn’t really space to park and after climbing up the muddy field you may not feel it is worth it. If you follow the edge of the field up along the trees after a couple of hundred metres you will come to a disappointing sight. Burl states it is in moorland but now is a farmer’s field and trampled by animal hooves.
Three of the fallen stones About 7 or 8 survive from an original 12 stones. The stones range in height from 0.37 – 0.75m and form a 20m diameter circle. Just 8.5m to the north of the circle is a possible fallen outlier that is 1m long. |

Another muddy view Most of the stones are virtually
submerged in mud, all have now fallen and there was even an animal feeder
inside the circle. This site seems in danger of disappearing. |
