Drombeg
Stone Circle
Cork

This site is well worth a visit. About 5 miles SW of Clonakilty on the N71 is a left turn signed to Glandore and Union Hall. There are also loads of bed and breakfast adverts which might have displaced the stone circle sign that should have been there. After a mile look for a left turn that is signed to the site where there is a car park but it has a height barrier.

This is a very attractive small stone circle of some 17 sandstone pillars averaging 1.8m high and a 2.1m long recumbent stone to the south west. This stone has a very flat surface that has a cupmark. The circle is about 9.5m diameter and is situated on flattened ground.

About 40m west are the remains of two stone huts and an information board there explains how a water filled stone trough could be brought to the boil using hot stones from the fire pit beside it.
