Dunbeacon This is the only circle on the Mizen Peninsula but it is close to a campsite. Coming from the campsite west of Durras drive for about 1.5miles and turn right on the narrow uphill lane. (Coming from Durras it is the 3rd on the left near where the sea comes close to the road) Drive uphill for about a mile and when you reach a place where there are 3 house gate openings together on the left find a stopping place and come back here. There are two tall standing stones in a field beside the third house marked as a stone row on the OS map.
From here you should see the circle across some fields to the west about a quarter of a mile away. If you walk downhill a little there is a gate to a rough track that headed near the circle but leaves two barbed wire fences to cross to reach the site.
This a very attractive circle set just below the top of a rise. Six of the eleven tall stones still stand around this small circle that measures about 8m diameter and average 1.8m (6ft) high. There is also a central slab in the circle.
