Stone Circle
SO 239 373

From the B4350 in Hay on Wye go past the Cinema Bookshop and turn left on the lane signed to Capel y Ffin. Keep following signs to here and go for 4 miles when you come out on the moor and will find a car parking area beside the stones.

This is a fairly recently recognised stone circle and is not in Burl’s book. There is not a great deal to see. The stones around the edge of the parking area are modern and placed to protect the site.

View in the fog

The largest stone is 1.5m high and 1.1m wide with remaining small stones forming an arc either side of it. The circle is about 30m across with most of the stones buried or with just a little showing above the grass. There are two fallen slabs beside the large stone.

The site is covered in small mounds and there are a couple of hollows and a further two almost buried stones to the west. Before you reach the site there is a barrow at SO 241 386 but the fog was heavy and we didn’t see it.
