The walk
to Ffridd Newydd stone circle at SH

Drive on through Barmouth and head towards Harlech on the A496. After Tal y Bont look for a church on the left and take the right turn here between large gate posts and head up a long straight lane, go to the end, bending round some buildings, until you reach a gate across the lane. Don’t go through this one but park nearby and go through the gate on the side heading south. After a few hundred metres you will see a burial chamber on the right. Coetan
Arthur This chamber appears to
have been set on two round cairns that are joined together and has a huge
capstone which has slipped down at the back. It. The entrance is to the
south east and it is situated in a very attractive location. There are
several cairns nearby to the east.

Newydd Continue on the tarmac
track and cross the bridge. Carry on, ignoring the first footpath sign to
the right that goes to a house. Where the path bends turn right and
continue ahead uphill by the wall and after about 400 metres you will see
cairns on a hilltop to the right.

of the cairns looking towards Lleyn Peninsula Keep on for about ½ mile and where the wall on your right stops by a stile and wire fence starts cross the stile and go through the gap in the wall into the field on the right. There are two circles here that are not easy to see. The grass covered stone
banks are just visible in places. The southern circle is quite large at
about 150 feet (50 metres) across and has one taller stone in the
southeast at about 3 feet ( 1 metre) in height. There are nine stones just
visible and a small hollow in the centre.

The tallest stone in the south The northern circle is very feint but a small bank can be vaguely made out in places. It is about 100 feet (30 metres) across and has one low stone in the northwest and a few more small stones in the grass.Cairn
