Nant
Tarw Turn left at Trecastle by the Coaching Inn and follow the Usk Reservoir road to the forestry commission plantation. As you leave the trees park before the bridge in the forestry carpark. This is a very wet walk as you have not only streams to cross but a few boggy bits as well. A map is needed as the streams can be confusing. Basically go through the gate by the bridge and keep to the left of the stream and follow it on the muddy track south. You can either go over the hilltop and see the shape of the stream to follow or just keep to the left side until you reach the second fork in the stream. Here you cross the stream to the central area between the streams and head towards a flat topped ridge ahead. The circles are about ¼ mile along this ridge and you will probably see the cairn first.
There are two circles here. Nant Tarw means “Bull Brook”. The ESE ring is 20m (60ft) across with small stones and about 110m to the WNW is a second circle of a similar size (19m). |

To the east of the first circle is a long fallen stone measuring 2.4m (8ft) and about 90m west is another 2.8m long and 1.8m wide fallen stone on the hilltop. Beside it are two small standing stones in a line, a similar arrangement can be seen at Cerrig Duon.

View towards the fallen stone to the east The first circle has 18 stones, the tallest reaching 0.7m in the southern arc. There are traces of more stones just above the grass.
Views of the second circle
The second circle also has 18 stones, the largest also reaching 0.7m but these are to the west of the ring.
