Llanfechell Triangle
Standing Stones
SH 364 916

This site is on a low hilltop north of Llanfechell about 1 mile south of Cemaes. We camped near here and the site is easy to reach. Take the Llanfechell road from the roundabout on the A5025 at Cemaes and after passing the old windmill take the next left. There are several paths to it and we carried on to the village and turned right and parked near the footpath sign. When we were there the fields were quite muddy and one stile was set in a small “lake”.

The three stones can be seen from a distance, they are all over 2m high. They stand in a triangular arrangement, each around 3m apart. There are good views all around in a curious contrast of nuclear power station and pylons against large numbers of windmills on the alternative energy windfarms.

We headed to Cemlyn Bay for a cliff walk and passed a couple of standing stones on the way at SH 333 904 and SH 334 907 on the way.

Soar Stone

SH 319 863

We passed this on the A5025 on the way back to the bridge and had to stop for a closer look. It is just beyond Llanfaethlu and you can stop safely by the church called Soar Chapel.

The stone is almost 3m high and about 2m wide set just beside the road with wonderful views beyond. Barbed wire prevents access but it is an impressive stone with more windmills in the distance.

The other site we visited this time was Henblas
