Drive or walk to
Oddendale and park by the track beside the trees to the right before
entering the village. Follow this track south and after about 300 metres
beyond the end of the trees the circle can be found about 200 metres west
of the path. There is a cairn ahead on the left of the path and the circle
almost lines up with the factory in Shap where Kemp Howe circle is. So if
you can’t find it walk towards the smoke from the distant chimneys with
the tall cairn behind you.

Oddendale is a concentric stone circle, the outer ring has 32 stones with two more just outside on the west. The tallest are to the east at about 3 feet (1 metre) high. The inner cairn circle is kerbed and the stones are also larger to the east. This cairn is about 25 feet (7.5 metres) diameter with the large stones almost touching. One stone to the ESE is halfway between the inner and outer rings and appears to line up with Kemp Howe in the distance. The outer ring is about 86 feet (26.2 metres) and the stones are limestone.
