We headed west along the coast road (A836) and stopped on the way to visit some long cairns that are signed before Dounreay. Cnoc
Freiceadain There is a layby to park in and the short walk uphill to the top of the ridge takes you to the site. There were originally several round cairns here containing burial chambers and at a later date these were combined to make two long cairns. One is aligned west to east and the other north to south. On the west end of the northern cairn the forecourt horns are still visible under the grass.
