Croft Moraig Stone Circle NN 794 472 Return to Kenmore and follow the A827 east for 2 miles. There is no sign for this circle even though it is in state care but you will see it form the road on the right by some farm buildings. Park in the wide part of the drive to the farm and enter the site through a gate near the road.
A short walk uphill brings you to the circle that has an information board explaining the stages of development that have taken place here. It is an impressive circle, spoilt only by the proximity of farm buildings.

The circle stands on a raised mound and was originally a timber circle of 14 posts around 3000BC arranged in a horseshoe shape. These posts were replaced with 8 stones up to 4.5ft (1.4m) high also arranged in a horseshoe. There were also 3 others to the SSW, two of which have fallen. A kerb bank was built and on this, also to the SSW can be seen a long cupmarked slab. At a later stage a stone circle was built around the horseshoe and was originally of 12 stones. Five still stand and four have fallen. There are also two large outlying stones forming an entrance in the ESE, one of these has fallen and there is a large slab between them.
