The first stone avenue is almost 200m long and 1m wide and leads up to a stone circle with multiple rings. Where it joins the circle there are two large fallen stones. The circle is quite small at about 8.5m across but contains three concentric rings of stone.
The avenue leading to the south There are several stone rows here and one heads uphill to the south and carries on over the hilltop to a large standing stone called the Long Stone that reaches nearly 10.5ft (3.2m) There are six stone rows in the Shovel Down ceremonial complex.
