Soussons Common
Stone circle
SX 675 786

From Postbridge head NE on the B3132 and turn right signed Widecombe. Drive for about 1 mile passing a campsite then you will come to a forest. Watch for the circle in a clearing beside the road near a layby.

This is a cairn circle and it is in good condition. It is slightly raised up and is around 8.5m diameter consisting of 22 stones and a couple more just outside the ring. In the centre is a cist with the stones forming the box still visible below the water level.

View of the site and the central cist

It had been raining non-stop for 20 hours when we visited so it was fairly flooded. (The streams at Scorhill we visited 2 days before would not now be passable, the weather, visibility and walking conditions change very quickly here)
