Machrie
Moor 1 A
short distance to the southeast is circle 1.
Originally there was a timber
circle here which was replaced by this ring of originally 12 stones. 11
remain and has alternately set granite boulders and sandstone slabs. This
is an ellipse measuring around 14.5 by 13 metres.

Machrie
Moor 11 Just
to the northeast is the recently discovered circle that had sunk in the
peat with only the tips of the stones showing. This had also been the site
of an earlier timber circle and excavations have restored the site and
raised the stones to reveal a neat circle of 10 stones, nine being
sandstone and one granite.
